The museum remains at the forefront of the global movement for nuclear disarmament and lasting peace in the world. 

It is divided into two parts: the east wing and the main building. The museum shows the history of Hiroshima before and after the atomic bombing through photos, films, and exhibits. There are also materials showing how terrible the bombing was. In spring, the Peace Park is full of cherry blossoms.
